Addmaster Teams Up with Polymer Compounders on Notoxicom

Addmaster Partners with Polymer Compounders to Integrate Biomaster Antimicrobial Technology into Notoxicom Flame Retardant Polymer
Addmaster, a leader in silver-based antimicrobial technology, is excited to announce its partnership with Polymer Compounders, a leading UK thermoplastic compounder. The collaboration will see the incorporation of Addmaster’s proven Biomaster antimicrobial additive technology into Polymer Compounders’ Notoxicom® B6000 flame-retardant polymer. This breakthrough will bring together two cutting-edge technologies.
Biomaster, which is integrated into polymers, plastics, textiles, paper, paints, and coatings at the point of manufacture provides effective antimicrobial product protection that lasts for the effective lifetime of the product. It works by inhibiting microbial growth on treated surfaces, maintaining cleaner and more hygienic environments. With its powerful, lasting protection, Biomaster is a trusted solution for ensuring that products stay hygienic and durable.
Notoxicom® B6000, developed by Polymer Compounders, is an innovative PC/ABS flame-retardant material that inherently achieves high fire safety standards without relying on harmful additives. Unlike conventional flame retardants that use toxic chemicals, Notoxicom® B6000 offers flame retardancy “baked in” at a molecular level, ensuring V0 and 5V fire ratings, as tested by UL and Intertek. This product has a near zero toxicity rating, both flaming and non-flaming, which is greatly superior in the market when compared with other FR PC/ABS or FR ABS. Notoxicom® is also a more sustainable alternative to traditional flame-retardant materials that contain halogenated and liquid phosphate compounds, which can leach dangerous toxins into the environment.
A Synergy of Safety and Sustainability
The partnership between Addmaster and Polymer Compounders represents a unique synergy of fire safety and antimicrobial hygiene. Biomaster antimicrobial technology has been rigorously tested with Notoxicom® B6000, delivering exceptional results that highlight its compatibility and performance. By combining Biomaster’s advanced antimicrobial product protection with Notoxicom® B6000’s sustainable, non-toxic flame retardancy, the collaboration provides manufacturers with an exceptional solution that not only enhances fire safety but also improves product hygiene. Due to the lightweight nature of the material contributing to a reduction in CO2, Notoxicom® is also an environmentally friendly product.
This integration will allow manufacturers to offer products with both excellent fire protection and antimicrobial benefits, providing a more comprehensive solution for industries ranging from automotive and healthcare to electronics and construction.
Polymer Compounders Limited and Addmaster tested this new product externally for flame retardancy. The standard test in the polymer industry is a test called UL94 V0, this is the standard for tests for flammability of plastic materials for parts in devices and appliances.
To attain the UL 94 V0 standard, samples must have met the following criteria:
- Burning combustion is not sustained for more than 10 seconds after applying controlled flame.
- Total flaming combustion time for 5 samples does not exceed 50 seconds.
- None of the samples burned up to the mounting clamp by either flaming or glowing combustion.
- None of the samples dripped flaming particles that result in the ignition of the surgical cotton below them.
- Samples did not exhibit glowing combustion for more than 30 seconds after removing the second controlled flame.
The test conducted showed that the product gave the strongest possible result achievable, with no combustion recorded.
Commitment to a Cleaner, Safer Future
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Polymer Compounders to bring this innovative product to market,” said Damian Harvey, Commercial Director at Addmaster. “By integrating Biomaster with Notoxicom B6000, we’re able to offer customers the dual benefit of antimicrobial protection and fire safety, without compromising on sustainability or environmental impact. This partnership reflects our commitment to improving product hygiene.”
“This partnership with Addmaster enhances the value we provide with Notoxicom B6000 by adding antimicrobial product protection without introducing harmful chemicals,” said Rupert Barrett, Commercial Development Manager at Polymer Compounders. “Together, we are creating solutions that meet the growing demand for hygienic, more sustainable materials, setting a new standard in flame-retardant polymer technology.”
