World's first fully antimicrobial smartphone showcased at MWC 2022

Bullitt Group, the global licensee for Cat® phones, will be demonstrating the first ever fully antimicrobial smartphone, the Biomaster protected Cat S42H+, at Mobile World Congress, the largest mobile technology show in the world in Barcelona at the end of February.

MWC is expected to have more than 1,500 exhibitors arriving from around 150 different nations. The MWC Barcelona event is one of the biggest mobile tech expos, with various brands unveiling their latest innovations in smartphone technology to attendees. In the past the event has brought in over 100,000 people.

The entry-level Android smartphone S42H+ with antimicrobial protection is designed for military use but is also available to the public.

Every exterior component of the product including the screen protector fitted over the Corning® Gorilla® Glass toughened screen has been treated with Biomaster antimicrobial technology and tested to ISO 22196. Biomaster technology inhibits the growth of microbes on the phone surface offering protection for the lifetime of the unit.

The Biomaster-treated Cat S42H+ is the first of a series of devices in the Bullitt Group phones range with antimicrobial technology with others expected later.

The Cat S42 is extremely tough. Tested to Cat phones’ demanding standards, it features MIL SPEC 810H and IP68 and IP69 ratings and surpasses rigorous and repeated drop testing from 1.8m onto steel, including multiple drops onto every side and corner. It is fully waterproof, tested submerged in water at depths up to 1.5m for 35 minutes.

All Cat smartphones are also put through vibration and tumble tests, salt mist conditions, and are built to operate in high and low extremes of temperature and to survive thermal shocks.

MWC 2022 is set to run from February 28 until March 3. You can visit Bullitt in Hall 7 Stand 7B50.
